im building a new computer and would like to know what is a good video card to get with the new pci express slot. i have the option to spend money on a new mobo and being that pci express is the newest thing related to video cards i want to go that route. My comp might be used for some gaming, graphics, movies.. i would like a high end card but something worth the money. i have in my other comp the gforce5600 so i'd like to stick with what ive had success with but any suggesstiong would be great. thanx

The mid-range PCI express cards are roughly equivalent to the high-end AGP cards, and more affordable. The high-end PCIe are just out of range.

For a good idea of what the midrange cards are, go see They have performance charts for the different models, versus known benchmarks and games. Be aware of the suffixes following the part numbers, the performance differs a lot between the different suffixes, and the prices as well.

As you have had good results with Nvidia GPU based cards then i suggest a Geforce 6600GT see:

Or perhaps a straight 6800 See:

Performance with value!
Both mid-range but powerful enough for everything out there at the moment, both these cards are 3X more powerful than your present FX5600, lovely!!!
