Hi I'm trying to set up the Net Mgt port on my new V245 server but I dont seem to be able to connect to it.
I've given it an internal IP address, a netmask and the gateway but when I try to telnet to the ip address I get nothing....

Has anyone out there had a similar problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

You also need to set the switch it connects to 10/half duplex. At least that's the way it is on a V240.

Also after setting the ip address and all that you need to reset the SC for it to take effect.

Thanks I had reset it but I will try the first suggestion of changing the switch.
Cheers.

Ok it seems that because part of the network is 1 gig speed then I cant connect to it from my desktop. I could ping it from the switch which is 100mb but from the switch to the desktop is 1 gb and from what I have read this is not supported by the network management port.
Anyone had a similar experience?
Cheers.
Iain

What matters is the speed/duplex setting on the switch port to which the V245 is connected.

So excuse my ignorance but can the setting on the switch be changed to 1gb then? How would I go about it?
Thanks.

The network management port on the V245 works only at 10/half, you cannot change it. You will have to ask your networking guys to change the port setting on the switch to 10/half.
