I recently installed Redhat 9 onto my old P133 computer. Needless to say, it runs extremely slow. Would installing an older version of Redhat make it run faster, and if so, does anyone know where I can download an old version?

over the years, i have heard to go ahead and pull any old thing out of the closet and install linux on it and it will run great. i ignored the redhat recommendations and loaded up a PII233 with 128M of RAM. way too slow. if you plan to actually use the linux box ( vs. using it as a server and locking it in a closet ), follow the recommendations and use at least a PII450, or some equivalent. and pack it with as much memory as you can.

Run top too see where your bottle neck is, most likely you dont have enough memory and its swaping constantly. if you add alot of memory , so it doesn't need to constantly swap, it should run fine. Ofcourse it all depends on what services/programs you are running
