Hello,

I bought a PC 2008 Windows CE device (CE 5.0) from China off EBAY ( ). It appears to work, but there doesn't appear to be very much software out there for WINDOWS CE. So, I have questions:

Can I use Windows Mobile 5.0 programs on this CE 5,0 device?

Can I use Outlook Mobile on my CE 5.0 device?

My XP Computer with ActiveSync 4.x ( 4.1 and/or 4.5) can't seem to recognize my CE device. Is there some software I need to add to the CE 5.0 device or to Windows XP desktop?

I have either made a huge mistake or I am not looking in the right places for answers. I hope this is the beginning of getting to those answers.

You asked,"...are you sure the USB cable and plug are ok?"

Yes, the PC recognized that something is plugged into the port, but the Windows XP that I'm running does not recognized the device. It keeps saying the USB device is malfunctioning.
However, I can use a USB thumb drive with the CE device so I don't question the funtion. I question the software. It doesn't work with the XP OS, ActiveSync or Outlook.

I tried three versions of ActiveSync, but I cannot seem to get XP to understand the device when I attach it.

Any ideas or know of any XP drivers for attached Windows CE device?

And can you answer the following two questions:

Can I use Windows Mobile 5.0 programs on this CE 5.0 device?

Can I use Outlook Mobile on my CE 5.0 device?

Is there some software I need to add to the CE 5.0 device or to Windows XP desktop to get them to see each other?

Those are questions you should be asking the person/company you purchased the item from.
Have you tried running WM5 programs or Outlook Mobile on the device?

Another question:

Please let me know if any of you know if ActiveSync Software I can add to my Windows CE 5.0 device to make Windows XP see my CE device as a CE device and allow ActiveSync?

I'm trying to get some answers from the seller. He isn't being very cooperative. I keep getting one word answers that are not helpful at all!!

To me it looks like an ordinary PDA. First you should connect your device using a USB cable through Activesync either version 4.5 or higher. Then you should be able to transfer any programs/files to the device that support PDA.
I dont think you can use Outlook mobile, as your PDA is not a mobile phone, so you can't send/receive emails. Though you can use the wifi to connect to internet and if it supports POP3 then you can use your Outlook.
