New to websphere

I have just installed WSAD 5.1 on my windows NT. I would like to know what changes in environment variables of path and classpath I need to make on my machine. They are poiting to a JDK that I have locally. Do I need to change them to the JDK of Websphere?
Also how do I test my installation? What port does it listen to? I would appreciate if somebody can point me to a quick reference kind of a document or explain briefly how I can test my installation and how to set up debugger.
