Hi,
I've been tasked with looking into VLANs for our network.

We don't have any special departments as such, all users use the same apps apart from finance.

So, I was thinking of segementing off the servers onto a VLAN, the IT department onto another VLAN then by department...etc

I was wondering if anyone could push me in the right direction as to how to configure VLAN's as I'm new too this.

cheers,
steven

We did this same thing at my workplace...seperated all departments into their own vlans. To do this we purchased a Cisco 3550 layer 3 switch as I understand it. This acts as a router for all the vlans. It seems to work pretty smoothly and wasn't too hard to get set up and configured properly.
