What editor is the recommended one for XML development? I'm getting ready to attend my first training class and wanted to try and get a head start. Is VisualStudio.Net the recommended editor? Also, any good tutorial/faq site links would be greatly appreciated.

It depends greatly on the what your are developing with xml. If you want to create xml schema's and stylesheets then XML SPY from Altova is a great (yet expensive) tool.

If you wish to develop applications which use the capability of XML than .NET is also a great tool (great IDE) but then there are other languages to consider (J2EE)depending on your development platform.

I've used the .NET editor, the Tibco Turbo XML, and XML Spy.

Of the three:

.NET is OK
Turbo is a memory hog, and a tad slow
XML Spy made me go "Woo Hoo"!

Yeah, Spy is expensive, but it's really really worth it. Get the 30 day eval license and go for a spin.
