If you are logging in with cusa or something else you probably have limited access and that's why you're having trouble doing stuff. You would have to contact the supervisor in your group to get the tech password, unless you are the supervisor in which case you probably could get it from whatever level of support you have backing you up - if it has been changed from one of the defaults and no one knows what it is that can still be fixed - I think... With all the different VMs on the system now I'm not really sure if each one has its own password database or not.
