Question:
I work as a systems support specialist in a manufacturing company. We use a UNIX system and I have recently started to assist the EDI Coordinator in all aspects of our EDI (810's, 850's, 856's, 860's, and 997's). Are there any books that I might purchase to help me learn more about EDI in general? I work in Nashville, TN and I have contacted several area colleges, none of which have any courses to take in EDI. Where might I find more info to get me started above and beyond the OTJ I am receiving?
Thanks
I'm sure there are alot of books out there, but try "THE A TO Z OF EDI And its Role in E-Commerce". Its a simple book that gave me a jump start with EDI. The web-site were you can order this is as follows "

Thanks DEAL, I'll order that book you suggested today. I really appreciate your help and so will my family when someday I am an EDI Coordinator myself.

The following websites have been recommended by people on the EDI-L email list:
The EDI-L email list itself I would recommend only if you are used to the vagaries of newsgroups or email lists. The signal-to-noise ratio can drop pretty low at times, but there are some very knowledgeable people there. To subscribe, send SUBSCRIBE EDI-L in the body of a message to listserv@uccvma.ucop.edu
If your VAN is GEIS, they should be able to provide with an introductory video on ANSI X.12 standards complete with workbook. Talk to your account rep. Their electronic brochure on their Application Integrator product isn't bad either. I started with these materials almost a year ago now.
Good luck.
