New to SMS!

I am new to SMS and the Forum for that matter. Just wanted to say I love the forums and glad to be apart of them. My question is, my SMS Server is currently not working, so I am going to redo the Server to 2000 and install SMS again. What is the best version of SMS to install to work with 2000? Also, I want to know if I can use SMS to choose a specific IP group and tell me the name of the computers on that IP Scheme and also what software is on each of them Pc's?

Welcome to the forums! I'm new here too these guys are great.

I use SMS SP4 on 2000 SP3 w/out any issues. I am also running both feature packs w/ issues only w/ the critical updates portion.

You can use SMS within a specific IP range to report back workstation information.

Keep in mind that you can't install SMS 2.0 on a Windows 2000 server, unless you're installing from an image of SMS 2.0 SP2. You can create your SP2 image:
