I just installed Linux 8 on a box at work. I have sendmail on it. I haven't made any changes after the install. I want to have this box send all outgoing messages to our other mail server for delivery (i.e. mail.super.com). Right now I'm just trying to test and see if sendmail is even working. I have been using mail rod@super.com on the CLI and all the mail goes into the root account under /var/spool/mail/root. Why isn't this mail being sent to my actually address? What configuration parameters do I need to alter? Thanks

the first thing you need to do is look in the sendmail.mc file and put DNL in front of
DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')
This will allow sendmail to "listen" on an active network interface rather than loopback. You need to run sendmail through the m4 preprocessor and then restart sendmail. Sendmail will now be active, troll this newsgroup for set up info. You are not the first person to ask this question, you will find all the info you need to set up sendmail here. Plus has tons of FAQs about setting up sendmail. If you are still stumped, post specific questions about your issues. We are here to help but we're not going to do all the work :)
