New to OLAP

After done the ETL process is that data get into OLAP? or data get into datawarehouse?

Is that Datawarehouse database design differ from OLAP Database design?

Confusion: reg. the data warehouse arch. everybody has their own way of diagramatic representation. Whats the standard diagramatic representation of DW arch.

Bit confused, I guess?
ETL process will populate a datawarehouse/datamart, which will normally consist of data and dimension tables.

You can then either use SQL to report on these sources or build OLAP structures on top of them. SQL based tools will give you great flexibility , whereas OLAP will give to the best performance.

Actually , the phrase OLAP is misused most of the time. It is most frequently used to designate the use of cubes
