NEW TO OLAP - DATEPART

Hi there all

I have a quick question, Im new to olap so this might sound like a dumb question.

Ok i have my data in a table (SQL SERVER 2000). And I want to create a dimension. Simple right. Ok I want the dimension to take just a part of the date though not the full date..

i.e. Month only not the rest of the date shown by the field DateStart.

Thereby I can make the new level in the dimension DateStart with only the month showing.

You cant use DATEPART or DATENAME in MDX.. so how do you do this.

DatePart is supported if the vba library is registered.
