I am totally new to MySql. This is what I would like to find out.

I'm trying to develop a database application with Perl. I'm not sure whether to go for a flattext database or something like MySql.

I understand that the server will need to support MySql. Do most of the servers support MySql?

Are there any example Perl - MySql example databases out there to learn from?

Thanks,

Ron

Yes, you need to install Perl DBI. It's a Perl module for database handling available at CPAN ( but it is also an available package on most Linux/Unix install CDROMs.

Thanks, I already found some more things about this. I still find it hard to start. Does anybody know of a step by step tutorial how to setup a MySQL database using Perl.

I found something similar for PHP, not for Perl though!
