I am looking at learning Java. What would you suggest as a good starting point? Should I learn javaone or java2 or java scripts?

Thanks,
newbie - Hookem1994

Of that list. Java2 is the only Java language.

Javascript is a client-side scripting lanuage made by Netscape.

JavaOne, IIRC, is what used to be called Forte.

Java2 (aka Java) is the Java language itself. I don't know what the two is exactly for though. iSeriesCodePoet

Hello, hookem1994.

"Thinking Java, second ed." is a really good book, but it's only for programmers. It's a good book to learn Java but It's not a good book to learn programming.

Regards.

Try "Beginning Java Objects" by Jaquie Barker. Very good book to start with as it explains logic and concepts behind Java first (in plain English!) then gets into coding. Easiest and handiest book I've ever read.

Have fun,
