Hi all, I'm totally new to this ISA Server.

I've tried to setup a ISA Server in my LAN but it won't work.

In my network, there is a ADSL router and NAT is configured.
And I'm trying to set up a ISA Server as a Cache Server for testing. This ISA Server only have one NIC, which connected to the LAN Switch.
I have setup this ISA as Stand-alone Server. But once I connect it into my LAN, all can't send out the mails. My company mail is using a POP3 mail.

Therefore I need advice on how to setup the ISA as Cache Server with one NIC.

Your advice is appreciated. Thanks and Regards

You can't. PC's are very clever, and will try to find the quickest and easiest route to take, which in this case is direct to your router. I have a ISA server with 2 NIC's in it sitting between the Router/Firewall and a network switch and it works fine.

Here's an article on how to set up your ISA as a unihomed, cache-only server. Unihomed means one NIC (more or less).

Once you follow the instructions in the article (make sure you allow pop-3 as well). Configure your client machines to use the new proxy(ISA) server. Make sure to edit the connection properties in your clients' mail program(Outlook) to use the proxy(ISA) server as well. Failure to do so will result in no email for you.

You can do as Steve suggested, and use a dual/multi-homed machine that sits between your LAN and your router, but if you're using a cache-only server, then I wouldn't advise this setup.

Beware this config though!!! If you do not have a firewall between your cache-only ISA and the internet, then you're at risk! Due to a misconfigured ISA server, people can bounce attacks or spam off of your server. Your ISP will hold you responsible, and could result in them disconneting you.

Note: Even if used in firewall mode, your ISA may still be vulnerable to this due to misconfiguration.

Good luck!
