I created a box with rectangle tool.

Stylized it with scribble.

all done.

Pressed the Selection tool to deselect.

Created a new box.......and put a stroke and ITS SCRIBBLE .....why is it linked to what I did before and how do I put a new simple stroke without starting over?

...appearance palette, window > appearance...

...turn on 'new art has basic appearance' from flyout menu or the button bottom left...

...do this without any doc open...

..to add, the appearance palette is pretty powerful, enabling you to layer effect on top of effect to create very interesting effects...

...you can then save these styles applied to objects by dragging the styled objects to the graphic styles palette...

...select another basic object and apply the saved style to it...

...to edit the style, change it on the art board, hold alt/option key, and then drag on top of the existing graphic style, all objects with a graphic style will update on the fly...

Thank you much.......the appearance palette solves the mystery.
