Greetings,

I have several vm machines that I used with Vmware server free edition, and others that I converted by Vmware Converter.

My question is: how do I do to import them onto my esx server?

Thank you for your help.

You have a few options, if you open the converter tool, the first step decides what the source is. You can do either that machine, one from a server, or another VM. Next you just type in the IP of your ESX server w/ proper authentication and finish the next few steps for where to store the vmdk file. (I recommend using a GB network) Once completed it should show up (off) and then you should have to just turn off the physical and turn on the VM. This has worked flawlessly for at least 4 physical server moves thus far.

Thanks.

I got that.
Could you please tell me how to save on my storage since the converted machines HD is about 30 gigs but in reality only 7 or 9 are used?
Is there a way to shrink them to the real used size while converting?
Thanks again,

Under 'Step 1' the third option asks 'Source Data' on the right hand side you are able to set the 'New Disk Space' which you can set at your will or maintain your current size.

Any ideas why a converted xp pro sp2 wants to be activated after conversion?

I found out that it is known issue by googling.
