New to Director from Authorware question???

Hopefully someone with familiarity with both of these products will be able to answer this for me:

My shop has a new project which must be developed using the latest version of Director (8.5?). Since I've never worked with director before, are the ANY similarities/commonalities to Authorware so that our knowledge of that product will help us with the basics of Director?

Anything else that Director is similar to???

I used Authorware many years back and moved onto Director. They are fundementally different and you will be starting from scratch. Lingo is a big language these days around 800 comands and a further 800 added with the 3D engine in 8.5 There are loads of good books you can get on Director but the O'reily ones are one of the best!
