Hi All,

I've been using Nortel products for a few years now, though they have just been the Compact 616/MICS Systems, using analogue Lines.
One of my clients has a pair of BCM 50's which BT installed with PRI lines, which I've been playing around with for a while though not going much further than changing extensions and so on.
They've just brought online 2 new branches, and bought BCM50's with ISDN BRI's (2 Lines, 4 Channels) in each. We've got them working in terms of the primary set rings, but they'd like them configured the same as the other branches, which use two hunt groups. 1 Just rings the office phones for 15secs, then moves to a second group which rings all the phones from then on.
I can't quite figure out how to pipe the calls to this huntgroup. On the MICS system that I have installed, you just assigned the lines to the hunt group, however looking at the PRI installation, this isn't the case on the hunt groups.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I'm a little confused, and do wish Nortel would document things better!
I love the BCM50's though, much easier than telset programming which was always a nightmare to remember where you where!
Cheers in advance!

set the isdn 2 lines to auto answer (default)
set the public receive lenght to 6 to match your digit lenght from your telephone company
assign the Primary(Main Number) isdn number to a target line eg"line 200"
assign the main incoming number to this using the last 6 digits eg 12345678--assign 345678.
Now point this to your hunt group "lines assigned"
add line 200 to the hunt group and assign the extns you want to ring as members.
set the over flow to the next hunt group and assign the extns as members to this hunt group.

so you now have line 200 "345678" ringing HG1
hg1 members are 221,222,223,224
HG1 is to overflow to HG2.
hg2 members are 225,226,227,228,

when a call comes in it rings HG1
after the queue time out it overflows to HG2 ring the other extns.

Thanks, so are the target lines like 200 or so configurable to how you want?
I take it that each DDI would need a target line also, which would be pointed at the individual extensions as required?

yes
allocate a target line for each DDI number then assign the line to your extn..

Same procedure as Norstar using DIA lines

Ok, I think that makes sense, cheers!
Will give it a try tomorrow if I get a spare minute!

Ok, I've found how to do the things you've described, but just wanted to check the behaviour of the huntgroup.

We want 221, 222 to ring for 15secs, then 221, 222, 223, 224, 225 to ring.
I've currently got the first 2 on hg01, and all 5 on hg02, with hg01 set to overflow to hg02. Is this correct? Or does the configuration you've described above (which omits the first 2 exts on the second huntgroup) work better?

yes thats correct.
What works best is your preferrence.
Your way is probably better because it will still ring the first 2 extns as well.

Yep, well been testing it today and all works brilliantly :)
snowman, if you ever want a website hosted, let me know and your first year's hosting package is on me (excluding domains though).

WOW!!! Thanks

But im glad it worked out ok for you.

Everybody on this site puts alot of effort in to try and help and all input is welcome even if we're not always reading the question right.
Sometimes just the point in the right direction can help.

Yep, well now after your explanation and information on target lines, I think I get a lot more of how it works on the BCM.
Just thank god I never had to touch ISDN on the older systems, they're not easy at all on the handset!
Now to convince the two customers using MICS systems to upgrade to the BCM :) And must work on the others to get rid of the Revelations and Inspirations! (Which were, at least, a bit easier to work with). Wonder if now's the time to shift the spare versatility chassis on ebay.
