New to AVST

I recently took over the support of an AVST 9.0 system that covers a Nortel 61C and Avaya Aura 6.3. My question is there are 2 servers configured I'm guessing the first is the application and the 2nd if the actual database where the messages are stored any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks dwayne
