I have never done any coding in ASP or XML. I know VB and some PHP. I have started to read books on ASP/VB.NET and XML. Just wanted an expert opinion on some resource that can give me a quick start guide (a resource that will tell me what I should do instead of telling stories). Something that will tell how to create a basic program using these tools. Things like:
- Demo of how to create a Web service?
- How to use XML?

I just want something to get started so that I can figure things out as they come. I am slow reader so it'll take me a while to go through all these books.

Thanks in advance.

If you have Visual Studio, then check out the walkthroughs that come with it in the help. If you don't you can search for them at MSDN. As for books anything done by Wrox seems to be very good. That'l do donkey, that'l do

Are you doing Classic ASP (VB Script) or ASP .NET (C# .Net or VB .Net)? I've used 'Active Server Pages 3.0' and 'ASP.NET using VB.NET', both by Wrox.

I like the Programming ASP.Net from O'Reilly. Almost every example is show in C# and VB.Net.

Thanks,

Gabe

Im really enjoying asp.net unleashed by stephen walther. i also have the programming asp.net by orielly. and wrox is usually good.
