Hai,
I am planning to enter AIX domain.i am very new to this field.Could any one tell me the job market for this field?
I have no certificaion before. This is going to be my first one.I want my career in networking field.

Will it be helpful in my Networking Career?

THANK YOU SO MUCH

You'd need to look at one of the Networking Certifications such as CCNA.

If you want to become a Unix system administrator or engineer, look at AIX certification. This will not be a lot of help for networking except maybe the TCP/IP course (but again, this is more for administering servers)

AIX won't be too helpful for a person persuing life as a Network Admin. Skill sets are pretty different. Good Luck on whatever you decide to do.

Consider AIX if you want to work on the "Lexus" of UNIX.

Lexus" pfft, try more like a "Rolls Royce". Solaris is a "Lexus" :)

Solaris a Lexus? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

AIX is the most enjoyable version of Unix available, and the Regatta has no competition from Sun. I know. My company replaced 7 SP nodes with 3 6800s, 1 v880, and 12 v440s, 1 Sunblade 1000. Even the Sun hardware engineer who comes out here always says "man, all of this (sun) is replacing just that (ibm)? That is just embarrassing."

That pretty much sums up the comparison of Sun vs AIX!

Dear ALL,
Thanks a lot for opinion.I also learnt that IBM is considering switching to LINUX.AIX is going to be phased out.

Once again, THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR REPLIES.

No offense intended, however, I would highly recommend changing who you're talking too. This person might lead you astray.

They won't be "phasing out" AIX, they're just trying to expand the pSeries market with LINUX compatability.

Solaris isn't all that bad. But comparing Solaris to AIX is just unfair. AIX is just far superior....period(.)

Regarding IBM phasing out AIX....not anytime soon or ever. AIX is AIX, I don't think Linux can replace AIX.
