...how to recoginze new EMC Disks in AIX.

run cfgmgr -v
this command will create all new devices, including disk drives.

after that take a look to the list of devices with lspv and lsdev -Ccdisk

cheers.

BTW, with the lsdev -Ccdisk you will se the new disks as:

"Other SCSI devices" if you don't have CLarrayS3 installed (or something like this, it comes with the Utility kit for AIX)

"RAID X FC CLARiiON Array " if yu have the utility kit installed.

if you have powerpath installed you will see the "hdiskpowerX" (powerpath pseudo devices) in addition to the hdiskX (they are physical)

Connecting to Symmetrix DMX 3000, doing the zoning now.
.. also how to get WWN to do the zoning from host..I know I can get it from the switch (connectrix manager) but how about from the host.

Thanks

lsdev -Ccadapter

with this command you will get a list of adapters in the AIX hosts. see the fscX

then:

lscfg fscX

don't remember the correct parameters for lscfg command, man lscfg or ask to the AIX admin guy.

******
or from the switch take a look to the list of WWNs connected to each port and see what port is using the AIX host.

Hi Driddickemc,

Chacalinc is right, try 'lscfg -vl fcsX' for each of your adapters in order to see the WWN (must be Z8) and the firmware (must be Z9).

Hope it can help you

Chris
