Hi to all,

I am really very new to veritas....

Currently I am using a 24GB dds3 HP storage tapes on a HP DAT 24 storage drive. This is not setup by me.

As the data in our company increases, we need ,ore backup tapes.

I just bought some new 40GB dds4 HP storage tapes.

How can I start using it??

The moment I try to insert it into the drive, it is ejected automatically the next minutes.

What happen??

Anyone pls help!!

Thanks in advance.

I don't think your drive is DDS4-compatible. It ejects automatically the tapes it doesn't recognize.

Check with HP to see if DDS4 tapes CAN be used in a DDS3 drive. But like Sky14657 says, I bet they aren't compatible.

Ok I manage to get a new 24GB dds3 tapes...

In vertias, after I set up the backup jobs....
Can I just slot the tapes in and start using??

Do I need to do anything else to the new tapes before using??

Is this a tape library or just a drive that you are talking about? With a tape library, you usually have to INVENTORY the tapes so the library and BE knows which tapes are in which slots.
