Hi,

I need to setup a 3300 LX for anew site. It was originally setup in a multi site cluster with dual VLAN's for voice and data, I need to set it up now for a new site where it will be acting as the DHCP for data and voice on one VLAN for both voice and data, would I be best to start from fresh or to re-configure the existing setup?

Is there a restore to factory defaults option if it is best to start from fresh?

Thanks

Phil

if you decide to default

from command line enter dbms flag off

then reboot

Hm, there is no "the best" option in this case. Flat network is the simpliest way. You just modify IP settings, delete all VLANs in your network and remove any DHCP options with vlan information including voice and native vlan (ie all VLAN related options) If you don't do this phones will obtain VLAN information from DHCP and will start tagging packets. Everything else will just work

Excellent, thanks.

So you recommend a DBMS flag off?

DBMS Flag off will default the system to out of box condition when you reboot. That means that there will be no data base at all and you have to start from scratch or restore a previous backup.

Just remember that if you do go down this path, as soon as you get into the system after reboot, go to maintenance commands and do a DBMS SAVE. This will turn the DBMS flag to on and any programming changes you make will be saved if the system is rebooted, or you will be right back at default!

I would recommend this method if you know how to program the system. I would suggest exporting common forms from a working system and importing them to the new system. Forms like COS, System options, trunk circuit descriptors, ARS.

If you are not part of the solution...

Then there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem.

If it is really just network settings change and all extensions and trunks should remain the same I'd just reconfigure this part without reseting the entire system to factory defaults.

It is but my concern was that it was all part of a cluster with some synchronised forms - thats why I was wondering about defaulting the system....

Hi guys, got this all setup and working in the end but just noticed that the DNS is not workig properly - I set the 3300 up to control the DHCP and set the DNS in the IP Configuration form but the PC's aren't getting a DNS setting? Any ideas please???

Thankyou!!!

Phil

The DNS in the IP config form is not for PC use.

You need to hand out the ip address via DHCP Options (Option 6 if memory serves)
