Any info most appreciated.....

Hi mate,

I personally picked up everything on the internet and by going to the local library and getting some books.

Also a great way to expand your knowledge is to take time and read through these forums. You will find a lot of useful info and code snippets here. You might not understand it now but when you come across the same problems then you will have more chance at fixing them..

There are loads of sites about that you can learn from and I guess the best place to start would be
Good luck!!

Hope this helps Wullie

Thanks.....

I normally stick the Citrix and NT forums and I agree that the info etc. on the forums is unbeatable.....

Can I ask what software do you use/require....????

Ok gonna check your sites...!!!!

thanks again......

Hi mate,

I use the following:

Graphics: Fireworks, Gimp and Photoshop.

Editors: Notepad and Editplus. Check out thread215-230091 for suggestions from others.

I also use Flash if that is required.

If you are serious about learning the code then I would suggest that you start using notepad or similar, instead of getting a program to do it for you. On the other hand, you can still download one of these programs and use that to get code samples etc, but a lot of them add in unneccesary code.

If you need any more help, just ask..

Hope this helps Wullie

Highland, I was self-taught also for web designing and programming...
I learned from some books like "SAMS's TEACH YOURSELF" series of books and sites like, " is also good...
For editing I use (and love) Macromedia Dreamweaver (you can also use Microsoft FrontPage or Cold-Fusion or even a regular windows' notepad)...graphics wise I use Photoshop and JASC...
This is what I did for my site: I used a combo of Javascript and CSS...the interface for the site was done in Photoshop 5.5...
Hope all this helps ya...and good luck... I have not failed; I merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
