new sound card problems

i recently bought a new sound card but i dont think its working properly. with my old sound card i could play games and have music playing in the background through winamp, but know if i try to open a game while playing music i get an error saying direct sound object is being used. can i fix this or is it proberly just my sound card isnt very good?

First thing I would check is in Device Manager while in Safe Mode to see if you have the old drivers as well as the new. If you do, delete all the sound drivers and reinstall the ones for you sound card.

May be your card just don,t support play two or more files in one time. If it is not so , I agree with Programmer.
