Hi there,

I have got two very old servers running Domino R4.6.6b in one of the offices.
I've bought a new server and set it us as and R5.0.8 domino server.
I wish to move all the users mail boxes and application databases from the two old servers to the super-duper new server with the least amount of physical effort

Is there a way that I can automate

1. The movement of the databases
2. The update of the user documents to show the location of the mail files.
3. The Update of the user workstations so that they are directed to the new location of their mail boxes and application databases.

There are approx seventy users involved.
I mentioned the domino versions just to see if that is a problem.

Thanks & Regards,

No they are dead when I finish.

I would backup the admin server and restore it to your new server. then upgrade it to R5. Then use the move people to another server option in the admin client to move people from the 2nd server to the new server.

I would test this first cause you said you have application databases on these servers. You may have problems with the upgrade or when you move the databases from the 2nd server.

as far as updating the workstations I don't know of any easy way of doing that.

Just to confirm, having R5 on all the servers is a must.
(I have tested the move database option but I keep getting access control errors)

Many thanks,

Under People and Groups there is a move people to another server. This will move the person and there nsf file. I'm not sure about the "Move database". Is this an Application Data base?

Sorry not using the terminology correctly.

I've tried to do this two ways.

I tried to use adminp to move the users mail boxes but this gives errors that the person trying this action(non cluster move replica) is not allowed to create replicas on this server(they are).

I have just tried what you suggested using the Move under the People, but this gives an error advising thet the server is R4 and cannot be used for moves.

I guess I'm stuck unless I upgrade all the servers to R5.

Just test the upgrade first to be sure any Aplication databases work.
