I’m doing my first Server 2008 R2 install on a Dell PE R710. I’m running hardware RAID-5 via a PERC 6/i card. Upon first boot up after install, I see a system reserved partition that is labeled as the System partition (as well as Primary), and the C: volume/partition that is also the Primary, and Boot (plus Page File and Crash Dump) – this is where I configured the OS to be installed. There is more info here than with what I am familiar. The remaining @800GB of unallocated space will be for data.
My questions are this:
Why is the C: partition not listed as the System partition along with the Boot?
Should I make the C: partition Active?
If the disk is still basic, why am I seeing volume options? I thought partitions were only called volumes once a disk is converted to dynamic?
Thanks!
