I am going to be implementing a new installation of sendmail. It will be installed on a I am very comfortable using SCO Unix. So that is what I was planning on using. As this will be my first installation does any one have any tips or recommendation.

My goal is to bring e-mail capabilities to my Unix applications.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Danny

Take a look at the alternatives first. Although I have used sendmail a lot in the past, I'm finding that qmail is easier to setup, install, and maintain. It's nice looking at a set up file that's written in plain language :) Although sendmail made big steps with the m4 configuration method it now uses, you can't get away from those .cf files...

--
My goal is to set up an unix/linux internet e-mail server on my local network. I then want to forward mail from my application server (running SCO 5.04, MMDF) to a server configured for internet e-mail (SMTP, POP3).
Question:
Can qmail be configured to acept mail from MMDF on my local network and then pass it to an internet address. Or can MMDF be configured to forward mail to SMTP server.

I looked at some qmail information on the web, it looks intersting.

I am not well versed in the area.

Any more thoughts or suggestions would be helpful?

Danny Daniels
dannyd@aboveboardelectronics.com
