I use AOL and there is a lot less spam than there used to be. A lot of it gets caught automatically and I had only one 'false positive' across several months of working.

AOL have protected employees accounts for years with RSA logons (critically, because AOL's employee accounts have direct access to the customer management system).

It looks like they've realised they can make money from this as an added service with minimal infrastructure overhead.

How much do the SecurID keychain tokens cost? I want to say they're like $60 or more. So, for a $9.95 cost upfront, and $1.95/month afterwards, it'll take 5 months for them to recover their costs.

But then there's the user training issue, replacing lost tokens, additional security servers to handle the load, and staff to administer the servers...

Maybe it's still worth it to them in reduced fraud.

It's good to see they've moved beyond Sign Everyone Up to actually doing something for the 24USD you spend.

Many years ago, I was suckered into signing up. It was nigh near impossible to get away from them.
