New SCSI drive not recognised by Windows NT

I have added a new scsi drive to a compaq prosognia oldie. The drive is detected at boot up, but windows NT4 is having none of it.
I have run the compaq diagnostics, and it also sees the drive.
 
Press F6 at the very beginning of setup, after booting from the first diskette, while setup is "inspecting hardware". This will, later in the setup process, ask you for drivers for your SCSI adapter (you will need
them on a diskette).
