Criminals reused an attack from 2008 to hit the Internet with a huge wave of ransomware in recent weeks, a security company has reported.

In the space of only two days, February 8 and 9, the HTML/Goldun.AXT campaign detected by Fortinet accounted
for more than half the total malware detected for February, which gives some indication of its unusual scale.

Thought everyone might want to know about it, especially b/c of the highlighted portion.

Er, kjv1611 that article is referring to February 8 and 9 - one month ago, not this past weekend. :)

Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, wrong month. I guess that makes sense that it'd have to have been a month ago - wasn't thinking. [blush] Otherwise, they'd have some REALLY fast data gathering techniques to get it all together, and spit it all out to the news outlets.

Regardless, the article was new, though the threats now already old.. the reason of the post was to make others aware of yet another variant of the same old tactics that seem to have been plaguing the web particularly in the past 2 to 3 years.
