I just replaced two of an HP 715's eight 16Mb modules with two 64Mb modules from an old machine. This should have given me 224Mb ((128 - 32) + 128) but it only shows 160Mb on boot.

What's worse, the top command shows only 64MB - (top output) Memory: 4608K (1928K) real, 11468K (7760K) virtual, 57584K free

Is there something else I need to do to get the system to see new RAM?

acs3,

What version of HPUX are you running? On some old versions of Unix the amount of RAM is actually hard coded into the kernel (really) and, when you buy some more, you have to re-link the kernel so that it knows it's there...
Mike
michael.j.lacey@ntlworld.com
<a href= Cargill's Corporate Web Site
