Howdy all,
I just added two new printers to our network, both HP 3600n laser color printers. Both are setup with static IPs and IP reservations in SBS.
The first one, given the name HP 3600 by SBS is working fine, but the second one, called HP 3600_1, has a problem where every morning it locks up and won't print. I go to the server and there's a list of documents in the queue, which cannot be fully deleted. I need to stop & re-start the print spooler service to bring the printer back online.
I am wondering if this is because of the "sleep" mode that the printer enters every night. The other one does not have this problem. There is no way to defeat the "sleep" function, only to adjust the timeout.
Once it's up, it's up for the day, it's just the early-morning behavior I'm troubleshooting. Any ideas?
