We have a Option 11 succession 3. we just got a new pri in from Century Tel, as the tech is putting it in he says "you have a Nortel, this will not work". He would he not say any more.

Sure enough we can't get it to work, the DCH never comes up.

Now we also have Toshiba systems, so I had a old one I took out and pluged in, it came right up and was happy. So what is the difference.

On the 11 all my channels are MBSY

here is my DCH ...

ADAN DCH 5
CTYP TMDI
CARD 08
PORT 1
USR PRI
DCHL 8
OTBF 32
PARM RS232 DTE
DRAT 64KC
CLOK EXT
IFC NI2
ISDN_MCNT 300
CLID OPT0
CO_TYPE STD
SIDE USR
CNEG 1
RLS ID **
RCAP COLP
MBGA NO
OVLR NO
OVLS NO
T310 120
T200 3
T203 10
N200 3
N201 260
K 7
BSRV NO

I have changed the TMDI, the slot, the cable, the CSU, had a vendor come in and he redid all of my work, still nothing. Every now and then the DCH will come up and work for a few miniutes but it never stays up.

Oh, you can not ever disable the DCH it comes back with DCH2040. you have to disable the tmdi.

Any Ideas?????

when you enabled the TMDI did you download the DCH?

Enl TMDI x FDL

Also, how is the span? SLIPS? ERRors?

Is it only the DCH that is not working?

CO type is STD? could be ESS or D100?

MJ. You say you had a vendor come in and they still couldn't get it to work??? Fire that vendor. There is no difference in what CenteryTel is providing, from any other vendor. A PRI is just a fancy T-1 with a clock and signaling. NI2 is a common protocal for CO's and should work. I would suggest calling the vendor back, and asking for an experienced tech that can get this working in less than 60 minutes (30 to be truthful...). Have him schedule a 'meet' with the carrier's NOC so they can provide testing while he tests also.

Thanks for the responces guys,

Yes I did a fdl on both the tmdi and the dch.

I only called the vendor when I could not make this work, I already have many PRI's running, this is nothing special. He is a good guy, knows his stuff. The carrier blew him off. "This is what we supply, we are not changing anything", the same thing I was getting.

I have tried ESS and std for the CO type, the span itself is clean, no slips, frames, or any errors.

They say the span is NI2 and we can not have anything else. I have tried D100, SL1, 4ESS, 5ESS, S100.

Odd thing, when I build the DCH with D100, S100, or SL1 the DCH works perfect, how ever I can not place or recieve any calls, just get a screen full of BUG errors.

Have that carrier send a tech to your site with a T-bird and show you all the settings and protocols on that circuit. I don't believe them. I'l wondering if they don't have a bad local carrier card in their CO pointing to you. Did they loop back that NIU? Did you loop back to yourself?
If they can't get it working, tell them it time for you to move to a new provider that knows what they are doing.

look at the settings in your toshiba, match those..

all t1's have clocks, all t1's use signaling..

on a t1, 8k per shannel is used for setup and tear down.. leaving 56 for barrier (ie voice fax etc)

on a pri one 64K channel does setup and tear down for all channels... leaves 64k for barrier.. older style wasted a lot of bandwidth on the assumption that voice did not really need 56 k. now channels are used for so may types of ckts that wasting bandwidth is not usually the best case..

as far as the centry tech saying it would not work on a nortel.. very strange statement.. i can't start to guess how many million pri's are working in a nortel today.

I concur with the group. Your problem is odd. I've used all the following carriers on Option 11's:

Qwest
AT&T
Global Crossing
Verizon
Zone
Verizon Business

How did you order the provisioning? If you ordered it NI2, then it should work if you set it to NI2 on your side. If you ordered it 5ESS, then it should also work if you make the correct change. What is labeled on the cut sheet the vendor sent you? I always get an e-mail with all the settings a week or two prior to an install.

OK, updates..

This is a old Stromberg-Carlson switch. they are sending a ss7 trunk to a "converter box" that delivers a pri to me.

They have NO programing, its all firmware. It works or it don't.

Thats all folks. unless some one comes up with a idea we are going to have them convert the pri to a T1 and see how that works.

A long shot.....

In LD 73... LPTI..... have a look at the MFF parameter.

I notice that you use the term PRI.... In APAC the MFF = CRC, NOT AFF as I believe the US uses.

If a PRI is set to AFF here, it looks like the DCH establishes then drops.

Stromberg-Carlson? Must be the last one in their system. This has to be in the old Sprint/Embarq area in the So. East. Tell them you need a circuit from a real digital switch down the road. Analog to digital convertors don't work on PRI. They are never going to get this working on the S-C. They tried that with me a few years back. They had to bring a 'digital' circuit from 30 miles away to make it work.
