Looking to get a new phone system for our nonprofit organzation.

Currently we have an old analog Vodavi System with a starplus dispatch. Have numerous problems and the system is failing.

Looking at entire new sytem

Need is 25 extensions, not including voice mail ports, fax or incoming DSL

We currently have 4 CO lines - again not including fax or DSL.

Any ideas on the best phone systems out there for the $ would be great. Have a quote for a new VOdavi 2 digital system and Digital Dispatch voicemail. HOwever if there are better systems out there I am willing to look around.

The Comdial DX-80 is very comparable to the Vodavi system. It's base configuration starts with 4 CO lines, 8 Digital stations and 4 Analog stations. The max config is 16 CO, 48 Digital and 8 Analog. When it comes to costs, the DX80 comes in a tad bit more affordable than the Vodavi. You can check it out at . Where are you located?

The Norstar MICS can start with as little as 4 line and 32 sta. ports. Add a callpilot for Vmail and autoattn. or use the CCR tree. Check the web for used or refurb. sets and systems. Some have from 6mo. to 1yr. warr.

without looking at specfic brands why not talk to some of the local interconnects and see if they can hook you up with a company that is expanding and can donate their old (often not really old just not meeting needs ) system to your nonprofit and take a deduction

It can be a win win you get a system for free the company gets a deduction that exceeds the true cash value of the sytem and the interconnect picks you up as a customer and looks good to his customer.

Thats a real good idea.
Had a case just in the last 6 mo. Boy scouts picked up a nice system for the buyout on a lease when the original customer wanted a newer version of the same system.

From reading the avaya merlin board ,I would avoid their systems ,"sleeping Sets",Software replacement, too many problems ,I don't have control of.I prefer to keep customers, not to defend my choice of equipment

I am replacing a Vodavi Triad for a customer on Monday - we are installing an ESI IVX - it is a killer system -check it out if you have a dealer in your area.

What part of the country are you in? The free systems is a great idea.
