We are evaluating new phone systems and IP office has made it to the last cut. Basically it is down to Mitel and Avaya.
1. The Cisco phones seemed to provide hands down the best end user experience of any but it was an expensive option and the administration is a little bit all over the place. (I'm sure this is up for debate on the end user experience)
a) Is it possible to easily combine Cisco IP phones with an Avaya interface?
Avaya was actually originally out because of the phones but we discovered the 9600 series (9640) in particular and decided they would work for us (if Cisco doesn't and be somewhat future proof down the road if a solution like Asterisk evolved enough.
2) Phone Manager Pro appears to be great software but a couple questions?
a. Can you add a Hunt Group to your speed dial to be able to drag and drop?
b. We feel that the oneX portal is heading in the right direction but doesn't have quite the abilities as Phone Manager Pro. We don't want to buy Phone Mgr Pro and then turn around and buy oneX portal if that is where they are throwing their development time and that is the future.
c. What is everyone's recommendation as far as these 2 products. Has oneX portal evolved to a viable product that is a replacement of Phone Mgr Pro?
3) Can IP Office be configured with any sort of speech recognition piece where I can just say call Joe or hit Transfer and say Joe? I see Avaya has some software that does something similar but not sure if it could possibly work with IP Office.
4) I just heard about a phone system called Iwatsu. Does anyone have any recent experience without and how does it compare to the Avaya IP Office. I can't find much info on the administration of the system, (web based, software based) etc. We are going to have quite a few ACD groups with members in multiple groups.
A big thank you in advance for your time and all the questions, we just want to make sure we are making the right decision for our business. It is competing against the Mitel 3300. Any input and answers to a couple questions are appreciated.
