New Node for SIP phones

I have 2 SIP Conference phones that need to be set up. I want to create a new Node just for SIP Line. When I tried to install and set up on our current Node, Many issues flared up and we lost our trunks. Very weird!! Will creating the new node effect any of the programming associated with the old node and do I register the new node to the equipment that the current node is using? Also I am assuming the new node will need its own ip address. Any other hints and tricks you all have would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, forgot to mention we are running a geographic redundant call server system running version 7.6 CS1000.
