If you're interested in this stuff, an excellent (although weighty) book is "Enterprise Integration Patterns" by Hohpe & Woolf ISBN: 0-321-0068-3 $44.99 USD

It codifies all the integration stuff I've been doing for the past 3 years, and standardizes the names of things.
