Who is using the new Manager for administering pre 3.2 systems.

I have been using this since it's release on various (2.1 upto 3.2) systems without issue, until yesterday.

I did a small user change remotely to one of our customers and all seemed ok. I went to site today for another reason and when I arrived I found that when I did this remote it did some damage. It deleted all the IP Routes/Licenses and all bar 12 of the directory entries.

As you can imagine, the customer wasn't impressed when we couldn't get in remotely and his VM Pro and PM Pro stopped working.

Has anyone had any issues using the new Managero on pre 3.2 systems or is this just one of those things???

Fooball is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

What version was this site?

Haven't found any problem yet myself.

i have noticed something strange
when i did send the config back i saw that it did it twice ???
big70 also mencioned a few times that the new manager did change this he didn't want

I've gone back to using the manager equal to the software installed, because I noticed that some changes were not being applied, never seen corruption or anything serious, just a weird feeling I had done the changes before and had to go back and do it again.

The site this happened to is 3.0(69)

Multiple selection of user etc should be included....! Phew.....select all on user rights as well...maybe (prob next release though!)

I had upgraded a 412 with seven module on 9-28-06. I lost all the programming after the reboot. And the passwords are different on the back up unit I took just in case with the same config files.

Also the 30 port module that reset itself three and four times aday which the upgrade was going to fix is still resetting itself just got the call from the client. Great!

When o when will people learn? Bug after bug after bug after bug........

Maybe it might be time to sell a different, less error filled system that doesn't annoy the paying customers on an ongoing basis. I've heard there are other systems out there that are the same price if not cheaper that don't actually break on a regular basis.

Just a wild crazy thought of mine. Maybe I'm completely wrong.....it has happened.....once....or am I wrong about that?

lmao

First step: RTFM. Second step: RTFMA.

I have been using the V3.2 manager on systems at V2.1,V3.0 & v3.1 without any corruption issues.
the only problem I have found so far is that trying to edit usere restrictions in a V2.1 system causes an error (this hass been fixed in the Maintanence relese that is due on the 13th)

Just don,t tell met to sel tadiran because it ceeps me out of bed every night.

Have some hospitals with integrated dect ans sms-server and over 1000 dects.

The SKK-boards are really a pain and kirk will not help them.

Also they dont now nothing about hotdesking (swapping sucks).

I like the IPO a lot and also the Multivantage is 10 times better.

Avaya rocks.

I'm not selling anything here. And you get me wrong - the IPO is a good system.....if it wasn't for the bugs. I must've worked on over 30 different systems in over 10 years and have never seen a system riddled with as many bugs as the IPO.

If you're paying for all these bugs and thinking it's acceptable then you must really love it. What I'm saying is I, and most people, would prefer to spend their hard earned money on a reliable system that works for the same or less cost eg Nortel, Ericsson, NEC, Fujitsu, or Tadiran (which does have hot desking) to name a few, which all have a proven reliability in environments where their customers cannot afford to have any problems. You don't see 24hr hotels or critical hospitals or defence forces putting up with an IPOs bugs.

As far as the Multivantage/Definity/ACM goes, it can't be compared to the IPO. It's a great system that works without the bugs.

It's your, or rather the customers, money that's paying for the bugs. There are too many options out there that do not interupt customers business daily and have to be upgraded every 3 months as a fix for bugs that shouldn't exist anyway. And the options can be the same or cheaper but provide a great deal higher reliability.

It makes no sense why people pay for bugs and think it's acceptable.

Just kidding,

i now the IPO has bugs but if you now what you are doing it,s a nice product for what you pay for.
Also it,s stable, again if you now what your doing.

Just Realize its a product for custemors under 200 stations and above you must go to Multivantage.

And there is the issue a lot don,t now how to install MultiVantage and trying to keep the custemor with a IPO that doesn,t fitt the client expetation.

Seen it a lot of times and removed the IPO and put in a Multivantage.

I agrea that the bugs on many software levels are not acceptable. And you need this site to make the IPO stable!!

They also made a manager for dummy,s because 70% of the bugs is wrong programming or ussing the wrong manager.

And you are true i love the IPO, but on the right place.
I check al the IPO Sales oppertuneties and say at 50% of them not to sell a IPO but a other product.

I have had a strange problem using the new manager. I need to save applications using the save icon in the toolbar - when I goto File, send config ... it does nothing.

Our company at one time sold Nortel's BCM product - we installed over 200 systems from 2000 to 2005. You folks have not seen a buggy, unstable, poor admin. system until you have had the unfortunate experience of working on Nortel's BCM product. Nortel introduces continuous patches for the system (over 100 for version 3.6 alone) - each patch takes 2 hours to load. The system is missing all sorts of features, and we have had a 50% failure rate of the main system board - Nortel calls this the BFT (Base Function Tray). Poor poor system.

Hi tech2233

When you klik on the save button a window will appear with the murge or reboot function.
With a old version software in side the IPO and u use the 3.2 manager you will have to type in the password in the top line.
If you do not type this it will send nothing.

If you use a 3.2 software it also ask every time you save a config to type in user name and password.
You can turn this off.

First load a config of a any IPO
Go to File > Prefrences
On the first tab page the top check box is selected.
I'am not sure what is says (another language) but it shut be something like "login request".
Deselect this check box and manager will no longer ask again for the password when saving.

Hope this helps

If you are using the new manager on old system, you have to put the system password in at the top of the box to send the config to the system.
