New Manager doesn't Act As Time Server for Pre 3.2 IPO's

We have a couple of systems that the customer doesn't want the IPO on the network. We go to site, plug in a laptop, wait a min or reboot the system. All is good normally. I did this today with the new 3.2 Manager and it didn't work. I started 3.0 Manager and it worked first time.

Just a bit of info for all you good people.

Does anyone know if you can use 54xx phones as a system manager to manually change the time like the good old INDeX. I have tried the System Manager tick in the telephony tab but it makes no difference. I think I have played with this a few years ago on a DT IPO and got time options but not anymore.

Any Ideas???

just say to the costumer that he has bad luck
or a pc on the same network as the IPO
or the IPO on his network

do you have vmpro on the ipo, if so it should be able to do the time server. dial up remote should be able to set the time as well, i think.

IPO's are not on the LAN, so no VM, PM or Manager!

I don;t think Dial up works. I have tried before. Setup remote connection, keep alive with Monitor and the time never updates.

Unless someone can tell me different.

Have you gone to Edit/Preferences and made sure "Enable Time Server" is ticked? What is the setting in the "Time Server IP Address" field? 0.0.0.0 means default operation. In this mode, following a reboot the IP Office control unit will send out a time request on its LAN1 interface. It first makes the request to the Voicemail Server IP address in its configuration and, if it receives no reply, it then makes a broadcast request.

Time Server enabled. time server 0.0.0.0. I am the only host on the network. It doesn't work. Try it for yourself. I have used my Manager with 3.2 systems and it works fine wit them.

I am more interested in seting up a dial up service to dial up an external time server.

Does anyone know the IP address of a time server the IPO will get on with??

By the way, you cannot synch the IP Office over the internet to these time servers as these servers only support NTP wich is not compatible with IPO.
IPO uses RFC-868 time protocol and this protocol is designed fot LANs and not for WANs like Internet.

Don't know why you say that, because these servers support RFC-868 and I actually have synced an ip office on the lan that had interenet access to one of these. Once I set my time offset correctly it synced up fine with the correct time. Of course, the time server is greenwich and I had to set my offset to -0600 as I'm in the US central time zone. I don't think it'll correct for daylight savings time, but at least I don't have to go onsite to make the time change. It's crazy that there is no way to set the time manually on the IP Office.

Well, there maybe RFC 868 timeservers on the internet but the protocol is considered as a unreliable protocol for accurate time because it may differ from the real time due to transport times.
It is because of the inaccuracy that there are more sophisticated and reliable protocols introduced like NTP.
So you will find not much RFC 868 time servers on the internet but if you find one then yes you can use it.
For a IP Office this is no problem, one seconde more or less does not really matter.

Which Time Server did you use phantoniii??

I am trying to set this up on one of our systems.

The IPO is not connected to the LAN so I am tring to do this via a dial up service to the Internet on the IPO with no success!!

I have set up an Internet service and set the time server address up. I have also put a blank IP route in to the servcie to try o make the IPO dial the internet when it requests the time server.
