new mail notification for multiple inboxes, Outlook 2003

I would like to recieve a desktop notification for new mail in a group inbox (not my default).

I'm skeptical about the possability because the only thing my searching turns up are add-ons. Even the advanced E-mail Options dialog box states "Display a new mail desktop alert (default mailbox only)".

But it doesn't hurt to ask right? If anyone knows of a way to achieve this I appreciate the help. I'm even open to feedback on any of the add-ons which enable this. What do you use or recomend?

This might be a roundabout way but perhaps it'll work. Your 'group inbox' has to be the default inbox for SOME account, even if it's an alias person, right? How about setting up a rule for that account to send a specific email to you whenever there is anything in that inbox. You can then create a rule on your end that alerts you to that specific message and then deletes the 'notification' email (so that you don't clog up YOUR inbox.)

Not very clean but it would work, assuming you can set up the rule for that 'group' account. By sending a specific message, as opposed to forwarding the original message, it keeps the traffic down and ensures that you don't have copies of attachments and such everywhere. Hope this helps.
