I am thinking about getting a new laptop in the near future. Right now, I am thinking about getting a MacBook because of size and cost (1199 through school with the 2.4 GHz CPU) I haven't looked at any other laptops right now, but I was wondering is the MacBook a good choice or should I consider something different? An added bonus of the MacBook is exposure to OS X. I know MacBooks are a lil pricey.

Another thing to ponder, is the .3 Ghz worth the jump in price between the Base and Middle grade macbook? I know the RAM is less, but I found 4 GB of laptop ram on newegg for like $80, and I know I could replace the HardDrive with a bigger one if necessary. How much of a difference will there be between the 2.1 and 2.4 GHz processor? I mean my rig has a P4 3.0 OC to 3.3 and my thinkpad a31 is a p4m, so the new processor will be much better regardless. Should I just go with the base model then?

...which can be reworded to say "An added bonus of the MacBook is not having to deal with Vista"...[thumbsup]

Sorry I can't be of more help...throwing out a Mac question around here is like driving a Chevy into a Ford shop.

The MacBook is a very good choice. I have a black MacBook with a 2.2GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It is very fast and has worked flawlessly for me. I would definitely recommend the MacBook. Leopard is an added bonus. It's a great operating system!
