Hi All,
we are creating a new job, but I would like some help with deciding an atractive job title.

The person will report to me (IT Manager - IT Services department) and will supervise the IT assistant.

The person will be responsible for running the department in my absence (which will be 2.5 days a week every week!)

So what shall we call this person?
And should we change the job title of the IT Assistant?

Both positions are to be filled with relatively young people. The 'assistant' role is occupied by a student (6 month placement). The new role will be someone who is looking for their first job after University.

All input very welcome!

Perhaps "IT Administrator" or "Asst. IT Manager".

I would agree with lgarner. The person who works directly for me, I have given them the title of "IS adminstrator". In my absence they deal with any IS issues they can, and log the ones they can't on our support system, so I can deal with them on my return.

Our company uses IS (Information Systems) some others use IT (Information Technology). Is there any difference in the terminology, or is it personal preference?

You = IT Manager
New position = IT Senior Assistant
IT Assitant = IT Technician

Just a thought.
