New Java technologies

Hi, is there a place where i can get to know more about all the different java technologies that are available along with a very short description of what I can do with it? A small insight so that I can make better decisions in using those technologies which i didnt know existed.

is there any other site, where on one page i can get all the different apis without much digging and some 1 para explaination, i know java.sun.com is a good site, but it isnt as it use to be, there is too much info and I just need to know little titbit to keep myself informed so that when someday i am faced with a problem I can say ok this is the api I can use for this.

Other good sites on Java tech are javaworld.com, java-channel.org & loads of others - just google.
