New ip500v2 Rel 6

This is my first rel6 ip500v2.
Does the supplyed sd card on a new ip500v2 need to be formatted? Whether or not it needs to be formatted is the next step "Recreate" the SD card.

Sounds like you need an IP Office course my friend

Simply pop it in and your away, but it will need upgrading.

I suspect, if your asking these question, training is in order.

BUT - since there are randomly dodgy SD Cards out there, it might be just an idea to format it (within manager) and re-create it. saves the hassle later if the card goes read only - which the LATEST r6 "fixes

When the card is working like it should then a simple recreate within manager is enough.
An upgrade by the normal way can be done too.

A format is only needed when nothing else works.

I had one SD card that did not format and it took me 1 hour and about 15 formats (with windows because it was broken) to get it working again.

believe it or not a popular southern dealer suggested we format all the cards prior to going to site for the reason I mentioned.....

anyway - we digress.

I have an answer from Avaya that a format has nothing to do with that.
