Hi All I'm trying to hook up a new PRI for a BCM 400 using a Digital Trunk Interface, but the CO is coming IP. Will this work or I need a different interface, also what parameters?

Thanks

There will more than likely be a cisci router involved to interface with this circuit and NI2 usually will work fine on your end.

One thing bad about using these new services is that you cannot use external forward. The incoming CLID on the PRI when you forward a set to an external number is passed to the provider, and since they don't recognize the number, they will reject the call thinking it's someone pphreaking the phone system (although I have explained that it's the phone vendors responsibility to handle security and not the LEC).

At least those are our experiences here in Phoenix. I have talked with Nortel about allowing the Norstar/BCM to choose if it should pass the CLID of the originating caller or to allow a different number to be passed. They are looking at implementing this into future releases of software, but no date as to it's release.

If anyone else has experienced this and knows of a fix, I would love to know as we have at least 5 customers that can't use this feature.

Have those users utilize outbound transfer on their VM. Not a fix, but a viable work-around.

IMHO, a PRI is a PRI is a PRI ...
NI-2, ESF, B8ZS settings should do the trick.

It SHOULD NOT matter how the CO is transporting the call

DBrewsky: Do you know what softswitch/ media gateway the carrier is using?
Who is the carrier - i'll have to keep an eye out for them

QWest is the telco, and they are using CISCO routers with PRI WIC cards installed.
