Had to change external IP address thanks to Qwest sell out to Covad on SBS 2000 Server. We can send and receive external emails via Exchange Server just fine. Our problem is that we get a "server not found" when trying to attach to the mail server over the Internet. I can ping the mail server name and get outstanding response times. I suspect that we missed something in ISA Server.

If anyone has a how-to or what-to-do solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

if you can send emails into your exchange server, check the domain name you use on samspade.org and see what it resolves to (like mail.yourcompany.com). From outside your office telnet to that domain on port 25 and see if you can see it too.

Then you should be able to IE to it if that is the problem you are having (can you confirm).

Thank you for responding Z.

Telnet to port 25 fails on IP address. It was working fine under the old IP address.

I have learned alot since I posted this. MS Technet, etc. Is it possible to preserve all the settings/policies for a published mail server and just change the IP address? Is the ISA server publishing wizard destructive or are the current settings preserved. It is definitely ISA Server that is blocking access since all else works well. I can hack the registry if I have to, but would prefer to use an application if it is available.

This thread is closed. Solved using ISA publishing wizard for email server to point to the new external IP address. The wizard is non-destructive of existing policies. Thanks to those that responded.
